By federal statute (5 U.S.C. § 6103), the United States recognizes 11 official federal legal holidays: New Year's Day (Jan 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (3rd Mon in Jan), Washington's Birthday / Presidents' Day (3rd Mon in Feb), Memorial Day (last Mon in May), Juneteenth National Independence Day (June 19), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (1st Mon in Sep), Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples Day (2nd Mon in Oct), Veterans Day (Nov 11), Thanksgiving Day (4th Thu in Nov), and Christmas Day (Dec 25).
